$1M Arbitration Award
During the summer of 2019, John Heflin and Jack Heflin represented a cotton merchant in an arbitration proceeding against a mill to recover damages for breach of contract. The mill first sought to delay delivery of the cotton which it contracted to purchase from our client, then attempted to cancel the contracts in their entirety before any of the cotton was delivered. John Heflin and Jack Heflin filed an arbitration claim with the Board of Appeals under the Southern Mill Rules. After full documentation and briefing, the Board of Appeals found in favor of our client and awarded it over a million dollars in compensatory damages, all of which was promptly paid in full.
